ABOUT SPOKE

OUR · VALUES ·

OUR · VALUES ·

  • BODY POSITIVITY

It is possible - and fantastic - to make your fitness routine body-positive. You work out because you love your body, not because you hate it. We believe in representing everybody and every body. Don’t use exercise to punish your body because you don’t think it’s good enough. Instead, sweat because it makes you feel good AND makes you feel stronger both physically and mentally.

  • INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

We believe a fitness community should be welcoming to people of all ages, shapes, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and connectedness.

  • LOVE YOUR WORKOUTS

Exercise should always feel fun, something you look forward to, and never a chore. When you’re enjoying how you're sweating, it creates a natural motivation. You look forward to attending class and more importantly, look forward to how it makes you feel after.

MEET THE TEAM

  • Ashley Robinson

Ashley grew up in Upstate, NY and followed her dreams to pursue a graduate degree in Boston, MA. In the midst of her studies, she found stress relief and her outlet with beat-based riding. Eight years later, she turned what became a passion into a career. Upon moving back to Rochester, NY, she decided to take a leap of faith and follow her dreams. Ashley describes her classes as a little bit of everything — fun, intentional, and of course, sweaty. Maybe a few swear words too!
Spirit Animal: Panther. Why? These animals are strong, sleek, and quick to make decisions; but beautiful at the same time. She believes every woman has the same inner and outer beauty and fierceness of a panther.

  • Aaron Maciejewski

Aaron grew up performing, and traveled the country performing in musicals and operas before landing himself in NYC. After 4 years of the hustle in the Big Apple, Aaron relocated to Rochester with his fiancé. His passion for music, performing and connecting with others would be reignited on the bike. Aaron brings a varied background to the podium and looks forward to making progress with each and every one of you along your journey.
Spirit Animal: Tiger, putting a special emphasis on raw feelings and emotions, dealing with life spontaneously, trusting my intuition and acting fast...all very true and well that’s what the Spirit Animal quiz said that I took!

  • Mark Holderness

Fitness had always been a part of his life, playing sports, working out, and just being active in general. He woke up one day realizing that fitness was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He ended up enrolling in an online program through Bryan University and graduated in 15 months with an Associate’s Degree in Advanced Health and Fitness and became a certified personal trainer through NASM and a PN1 through Precision Nutrition.
    Spirit Animal: Tiger. Period.

Mary Sue was a NYC based corporate hustler for 10 years before choosing to move upstate and stay home with her twin girls. This transition led her in search of a new outlet to pour her energy and passion into. Enter Spoke. Mary Sue became addicted to beat-based riding upon first clip-in. She is pumped to share her energy and grit; all while delivering some sweaty jokes and smiles. Mary Sue describes her classes as challenging but entertaining.
Spirit Animal: Honey Badger. Why? Because “Honey Badger don’t care”. A Honey Badger is unapologetically a honey badger; relentless, scrappy and fierce. Just like Mary Sue.

It became a routine that kept her grounded during the many transitions (new jobs, new countries, new relationships, new business, new friends).
Spirit Animal: Google Spirit Animal quiz says a horse and I agree: The horse symbolizes personal drive, passion, and an appetite for freedom. It is one that shows a strong motivation that carries one through life.
